ใช้นั้นมาจาก นักแข่งรถมืออาชีพที่ชื่อ Patrick Dempsey ซึ่ง Patrick Dempsey ได้รับความไว้วางใจจากทาง Mazda ให้เป็นผู้ขับ Mazda RX-8 ในการแข่งขัน Rolex Grand-Am Sports

Mazda CX-5 Dempsey มาพร้อมเครื่องยนต์ SKYACTIV-D (เครื่องดีเซล) ขนาด 2.2ลิตร ที่ผ่านมาตรฐานการควบคุมมลพิษของทางฝั่งยุโรป ขับเคลื่อนสี่ล้อ ด้วยเกียร์ SKYACTIV-MT six-speed (เกียร์แมนนวล 6สปีด) พละกำลังสูงสุด 175แรงม้า ที่ 4500 รอบ:นาที แรงบิดสูงสุด 420 นิวตัน-เมตรที่ 2000 รอบ:นาที

ความพิเศษที่เห็นได้อย่างชัดเจนของ Mazda CX-5 Dempsey นั้นคือสีของตัวรถเป็นสีเทา ตัดด้วยลายเส้นสีส้ม เพิ่มความ Sport และล้อ Alloy ขนาด 20นิ้ว สีดำ ตัดด้วยสีส้มลงบนแกนล้อ ที่ทาง Mazda ได้ออกแบบมาโดยเฉพาะ จับคู่พร้อมกับยาง Michelin Latitude Sport  255/45ZR20 ซึ่งเป็นยางที่ถูกออกแบบมารองรับกับพื้นถนนทุกสภาพผิว ภายในตัวรถ สีคอนโซล จะเป็นสีโทนเดียวกับตัวรถคือสีเทา รวมทั้งเบาะหนังจะถูดตัดลายด้วยสีส้มเช่นกัน
